Obstacle course racer and ultra and mountain runner Jonathan Albon loves new challenges. Already this year he has tried winter triathlon (read more: http://www.jonathanalbon.com/2016/03/quebec-itu-winter-triathlon/) and is planning to run a hilly marathon in Bergen as well as his first swimrun competition. This all in addition to his “own sports” obstacle course racing and sky racing.
– I love new challenges. I love to enjoy outdoors and do long runs and hiking up in the mountains but as a professional athlete I need to push myself to the limits every now and then. Competitions help there and that is why I am ready to take a part to competitions outside of my own comfort zone.
This season has started with lots of training: mostly running, skiing and bouldering both home in Bergen and abroad. Jon’s season will start soon and the schedule seems pretty full (see here: http://www.jonathanalbon.com/events/). Good training season gives high hopes to Jon.
Last season was good for him too even though Jon suffered from many injuries.
– Last season didn’t start that well with my injury and then the whole season was kind of balancing either running too much to getting back to a shape or getting a new injury by trying too hard. Results were good anyway so I am happy with that.
Jon had a busy schedule as well last summer and he is still trying to find out how much times it takes to recover from different events.
– It varies a lot. Sky races with a lot of climbing and finishing times around 6 hrs are tough. But I have planned my schedule so that I could do my best in every race I take part.
